Sawadee ka Bangkok!!

What comes to your mind when you think of  Bangkok??  Mine is SHOPPING!! Stunning  Palaces and temples, amazing food  and …… their famous massage!!Smiley  I’ve been to Bangkok numerous times, but I’m always short of time for shopping! Too many things to do… not much time!!

Bangkok Temple, Thailand

Bangkok is  the capital of Thailand, the heart of both commercial and economic activities of the Kingdom.  The city offers versatility for  myriad of interests, from historical places like their famous temples,  to largest shopping centers and outdoor market (Chatuchak), to infamous night life, to spa relaxation, to gastronomical adventure! Name it and Bangkok has it!

Let me walk you through some of the most interesting temples and places to see in Bangkok:

Wat Pho, The Reclining Buddha Temple- Wat Po official name being Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn is the largest and oldest wat in Bangkok at 46 meters long and 15 meters high.

The gold plated reclining Buddha illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The Buddha is decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay on his eyes and the soles of his feet. Check the intricate designs at the bottom of the Buddha's feet.

Inside the temple you can make a wish, you buy these wish coins  and put your coins to as much as copper bowls as you can.. the noise from the coins hitting the copper bowls echoes all over the temple!
Wat Aroon, the Temple of Dawn, is one of Bangkok's best known landmark and stands on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Thon Buri.

The prang is 67 meters tall and surrounded by four smaller prangs.  It is best seen from the opposite bank of the river and according to the locals, best photographed at sunset.

The prang is so steep!
The Chao Phraya river makes a great way to get around, since many of the major tourist sites are easily accessible from the river..

Wat Traimit Temple of the Golden BuddhaThis temple house the world's largest solid-gold Buddha named "Phra Maha Suwanna Patimakorn" of the Sukhothai period. The Golden Buddha is 3.98 m high and 3.13 m wide from knee to knee. It is cast in solid gold weighing 5.5 tons.
