Tanjung Benoa is a small town located in the southeast of Bali and a few minutes away from Nusa Dua which is home to the first class hotels and resorts. It is about 30 minutes drive from the International airport and now one of the most exclusive areas in Bali. It is less developed than Nusa Dua but quieter and more private than the super busy Kuta Beach and famous for its water sports. Tanjung Benoa is also home to some luxury hotels like Aston Bali Beach Resort & Spa, Novotel Bali Benoa, Melia Benoa Resort and many more.
So if you want an area away from the busy and crowded Kuta, you should try this place. When you research about Tanjung Benoa you will get an impression that this place exudes luxury. For the resorts, yes it is, but we got an affordable price for our hotel, expect me to blog about it soon. But the beach is a downer, I did not enjoy Kuta Beach because it's a surfer's haven, but Tanjung is something else, the beach is simply not suitable for swimming!
at Tanjung Benoa beach, this guy is harvesting something, which is weird. But I guess it is because this area is an old mangrove swamp |
sorry, this shot is so poor, but you can see a lot of garbage here, which is so sad, it took the hotel crew so late to clean the beach front, it was so disappointing to walk around |
We went out of the hotel so early in the morning and so excited to go to the beach for an early swim, but we were so disappointed because like I mentioned, the beach is just not suitable for swimming. The lady you can see walking from the above photo is my friend, she's looking for a place to swim.. but sorry for her, the beach is so muddy, and there are sharp stuff in the water, probably because it's an old mangrove swamp which makes it difficult to walk around and even walking so far the water doesn't go deep enough to swim.
Nusa Dua is just 15 minutes walk from Tanjung Benoa so I asked some locals if Nusa Dua beach is better, but they said it is the same as Tanjung Benoa. We don't want to waste our time walking there and seeing the same thing so we just tried to enjoy the beach the best way we can. Despite the fact that we can't enjoy the beach for swimming, the view is still amazing.
After enjoying the view and taking a few pictures we end up enjoying our resort's swimming pool and decided an activity to go to Ubud for the day.
Like what I mentioned in my previous blog about Kuta Beach, Bali for me as I discovered from my trips is not famous for its beaches. There are a lot of activities in Bali, and don't miss exploring Ubud and their famous Tanah Lot. Will blog about them soon...
Next time I will come back to Bali, I still prefer to stay in Tanjung Benoa than Kuta area, but will surely arrange activities to explore Bali as a whole. So if you are planning on visiting Bali, don't limit your itinerary to their beach, look for something else to do and don't forget to enjoy!

I am very curious why can't you go swimming in this beach.
ReplyDeleteHi sir Rob, I did mention in my blog, the beach is muddy it's not sand its quite difficult to walk around! there are sharp stuff in the water too probably because its an old mangrove swamp, and you're already too far from the shore and the water is still not deep enough for you to swim. Thanks for dropping by! ;)
DeleteAhh, that is not only scary but at the same time dangerous. Wish they just have to grow back the mangroves again. lol
DeleteHeard a lot of good things about Bali. Mapuntahan nga!
ReplyDeleteThe photos you've taken are indeed beautiful... I especially liked the fifth photo where your friend, several boats, the water and the sand were captured in a very artistic manner.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead and I hope to visit your blog often too to read more of your travel escapades.
Take care,
Farida :)
Looking forward to your next post...specially the rate.
ReplyDeletei'm curious too why you can't go swimming in the beach...is it because of the wave since it's a surfer's haven?

ReplyDeleteI've always heard of Bali Indonesia, how beautiful it is, and seeing the photos here makes me wanna explore this place myself.
ReplyDeleteThis place may not be as popular as the others but hey, still breathtaking. And wherever you are in Bali, when we say Bali, then that's something.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that the resort still has a pool for you to swim in. But I'm glad that you're still promoting the resort in Tanjung Benoa despite its not so 'swimmable' beach. Oh, and how was Ubod? The famous Ketut resides there, right? :)
ReplyDeleteIts very calm and quiet

ReplyDeleteHalo Vivi, love the post and your photos. It's too bad you didn't walk up to Nusa Dua as it is actually much better than Tanjung Benoa. I just came back from Bali, stayed both in Benoa and Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua has a lovely public beach, geger beach and as we stayed in Novotel we went to their private beach which was beautiful! The water was clear and turqois from afar.. Not dirty at all. Next time do have a go, it's really a great swim for me :)
