World Tourism Organization reports that Dubai City is the #5 most visited city by international tourists arrivals for the year 2011 with 9.2M visitors. Dubai is well known as the global city and business hub of the Middle East, it is located on the emirate's northern coastline and lies directly within the Arabian Desert. Tourism is one of the most important strategy of their government to lure in fundings specially after the financial crisis of 2007-2010. A large part of the emirate's revenue now is coming from tourism as compared to other members of the UAE.
Dubai offers the best of everything, from the tallest building in the world (Burj Khalifa) to the world's largest malls, to world famous fountains, world largest artificial Islands, world class aquariums, world famous exhibitions and trade shows, ski resort, beaches, dune bashing, souks , their world class hotels and luxury homes (Dubai also ranks as the #1 for luxury homes in the world).
Just driving around Dubai is already an adventure, seeing these skyscrapers is already a sight to behold. Hong Kong may hold the city with the most skyscrapers with 292 above 150m, but Dubai holds the title of the city with the most number of skyscrapers above 200m!
Let me share some photos I have taken while driving around Dubai:
| Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure in the world towering nearby buildings |
| Burj Al Arab, consistently voted as the world's most luxurious hotel standing proud |
