Road trip: Kennon Road

Kennon Road aka the "zigzag road", is a very scenic highway located in northern Luzon island of the Philippines. It is one of the many routes that link Baguio to lowland towns. Kennon Road has a length of 41.2 km, it links the famous city of Baguio (the summer capital of the Philippines), at an elevation of 5,500 feet above the sea level, to the lowland town of Rosario in La Union province.

Kennon Road is one of the most dangerous roads in the country especially during the rainy seasons. Most of the road accidents occur due to landslides which makes it prone to closure during heavy rains.

Thanks to TPLEX, trip to Baguio is now easier and faster! And your trip won't be complete without experiencing Kennon Road. The drive is definitely worth it.  But please remember to be extra cautious when driving, and please do not drive in the late afternoon,  the roads are not safe at night,   expect to encounter sharp turns and blind curves. Also,  you will see a lot of road rehabilitation so please be extra careful, some portions of the road are not strong enough to hold the weight of a vehicle. so watch out for warnings and don't drive fast!

Changi Point Boardwalk, Singapore

Shout out to all nature lovers!! Here's your chance to enjoy one of Singapore's best walking path!!Tucked away in the western end of Changi Point is a boardwalk, which offers a beautiful view of the coastline. This boardwalk is open to the public 24 hours, 7 days a week. Strolling along this continuous scenic route is easy, it offers a safe wooden footpaths as wide as 2.4 metres and proper night-lighting to create a romantic atmosphere. 

There are six distinct sections on this boardwalk: Creek Walk, Beach Walk, Sailing Point Walk, Cliff Walk, Kelong Walk and Sunset Walk. This walking path begins from Changi Creek in the east and stretches to the western rocky coast near Changi Beach Club, before finally linking up to Changi Point or Loyang Park Connector at Netheravon Road.

Walking time is around 45 minutes, distance of approximately 2.2km.

The boardwalk is accessible from four entry points, namely Changi Village, Changi Sailing Club, Changi Beach and Changi Beach Park.

Bulabog Beach, Boracay Island

Getting tired of the crowded White Beach? Well, time to checkout other beaches of Boracay!

Bulabog Beach  (also known as Kite Surfer Beach) is a  2.5km long water sports beach of Boracay, and is located on the east side of the island.  This beach is popular for water activities, such as parasailing, and kiteboarding. It's at the opposite side of White Beach, around 10 to 15 minutes walk.

For this post let me share the video I made  of Bulabog beach.

As you can see from my video, you won't find many people here. Bulabog is not for swimming but for tons of beach activities.  Its a perfect spot to do kite boarding and wind surfing. There are a lot offering tutorials along the beach, the prices are not cheap but definitely worth it!

Let's explore Baguio City, Philippines!

I am a proud graduate of Saint Louis University, one of the most prestigious universities in Baguio City. What made me decide to stay and study in Baguio? Of course the weather! Located amidst the mountainous region of Cordillera, 250 km north of Manila and 1,500 meters above the sea, Baguio City is one of the few places in the Philippines blessed with a cool climate. Not surprisingly, Baguio has become the "summer capital" of the country, aside from that, it is also known as the "City of Pines".





Aside from the cool weather, Baguio also offers scenic and historical attractions which make it an important and interesting destination. We visited the city again last week after our trip to Manaoag, so let me share the video I made to summarize our trip.

How to get there:



Since all air links to Baguio has been terminated, the only way you can get to the summer capital is via land using a car or a bus. From Manila you can try taking a bus from stations in Cubao or Pasay like Victory Liner, journey time is around 6 hours depending on stops. If you are taking a car you can get there faster, via NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) and/or the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) then continue on to TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway). At the moment, TPLEX is still under construction but you can use the expressway until Urdaneta exit then take the national road to either Kennon Road which was built by the Americans when the Philippines was their colony or the Marcos Highway.
