Haji Lane is one of the coolest shopping destinations in Singapore, but it is also famous for something else - its street art.
Street art is not that "in" in Singapore considering how strict their government is regarding vandalism. In Singapore, it is illegal to do it anywhere without proper permission, but I've seen quite a lot in some MRT stations and underground walk paths so that's a good thing and hopefully more areas soon! The cool art will surely add more character to Singapore. It is a good thing also that a lot of building owners are now starting to embrace urban art on their buildings.
Let me share some of my photos:

Singapore is offering a lot of tourist attractions, unfortunately this place is not well advertised, but it doesn't mean it is not worth your time, there is so much about Kampong Glam that is worth exploring. For me the street art is enough to enjoy the place add up the selections of shops and restaurants offering a delightful historical ambiance.
Even beyond Haji Lane you can still see a few street art like this one above on the wall of Stuttgart Blackforest Express located at Jalan Sultan which reminds me of my mom's wall decal at home.
If you are up for a lazy walk, a casual drink with friends or to just to hang out with family, consider this place, it is definitely worth the trip.
Haji Lane is located in the Arab Street neighbourhood, walking distance from the Bugis MRT station or from the city centre or you can take the bus.

here's hubby saying he had a pleasant time exploring Haji Lane! |
I hope you enjoyed the photos! Till next time! Ciao!
These street arts look so good and I hope they can be replicated here in the Philippines. These marks of creativity are really worth exploring. Good shots!
ReplyDeleteMurals are beautifully painted in the wall for some cafe shops. Really interesting to know about this about Singapore. Here in the Philippines, this is great for some places.
ReplyDeleteOur local leaders should study and learn Singapore. This idea can actually work in the Philippines. There are so many Filipino artists who would be willing to work for free to make our cities and towns more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi there, You have done a great job. I will definitely digg it andd personally suggest
ReplyDeletetoo my friends. I am sure they will be benefited from this website.

This street art is awesome! Maybe our government can tap the youth to engage in these art expressions.
ReplyDeleteI super love the GRAFFITI ART they have in their place, messy-but-still-cool-look! Great photos too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome street art. Next time na mapunta ako ng Singapore, I'll drop by the place..
ReplyDeleteStreet art is a different level of art that most people can appreciate, very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteStreet art here in the Philippines is less refined as it is in Singapore, based on the pictures. Granted, I have seen masterpieces in teh streets of Cebu on occasion and I just hope they are preserved better and not painted over by vandals.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing, I passed this area looking for a shop in Singapore starting from City Hall Station then approaching the Bugis area and this lane. The street art really make the place look better.
ReplyDeleteI love the mural, very colorful and the place looks more lively because of it.
