Street Art in Haji Lane, Singapore

Haji Lane is one of the coolest shopping destinations in Singapore, but it is also famous for something else - its street art.

Street art is not that "in" in Singapore considering how strict their government is regarding vandalism. In Singapore, it is illegal to do it anywhere without proper permission, but I've seen quite a lot in some MRT stations and underground walk paths so that's a good thing and hopefully more areas soon! The cool art will surely add more character to Singapore.  It is a good thing also that a lot of building owners are now starting to embrace urban art  on their buildings.

Let me share some of my photos:

Singapore is offering a lot of tourist attractions, unfortunately this place is not well advertised, but it doesn't mean it is not worth your time, there is so much about Kampong Glam that is worth exploring.  For me the street art is enough to enjoy the place add up the selections of shops and restaurants offering a delightful historical ambiance.
Even beyond Haji Lane you can still see a few street art like this one above on the wall of Stuttgart Blackforest Express located at Jalan Sultan which reminds me of my mom's wall decal at home.

If you are up for a lazy walk, a casual drink with friends or to just to hang out with family, consider this place, it is definitely worth the trip.

Haji Lane is located in the Arab Street neighbourhood, walking distance from the Bugis MRT station or from the city centre or you can take the bus.

The World's First Curved Double Helix Pedestrian Bridge

Helix Bridge is a 280-metre DNA-inspired pedestrian bridge (the longest in Singapore) that connects Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area. it is made out of steel that resembles the double helix structure of a DNA.

This bridge is a destination point in itself, it allows visitors to enjoy a crossing experience while enjoying a panoramic view of the Singapore city skyline. Its resemblance to the DNA structure which is the basic building block of life, symbolises "life and continuity", "renewal", "everlasting abundance" and "growth" which reflects Singapore's aspiration for Marina Bay.

There are five viewing platforms  available where you can stop to rest, take pictures, enjoy the panoramic view and watch events happening within the Bay.

Location:

For an unforgettable Singapore experience, be sure not to miss this magnificent structure located in the heart of the city.

5 Steps to Extend Your Singapore Social Visit Pass Online

You're visiting a family or a friend in Singapore and 1 month is not enough? Well, you can extend your stay thru Singapore's e-XTEND service.

How to extend your social visa online

In every entry to Singapore, we are given an automatic 30 days social visit pass.  PR's (Permanent Residents) and Singaporeans can sponsor their immediate family members for an extended stay. For us regular tourists, we can also extend our visa for 30 days via online (e-XTEND).

Here's how:

1) Check if you qualify.  If you can fulfil the following conditions, then you can submit an online application:
  • You have not previously obtained an extension of stay on this trip
  • Your visit pass has a remaining validity of at least 3 working days from the date of submission
  • You will not return to Singapore within 5 days from the departure date of your current trip
  • You should agree that you will not be seeking any (further) extension after this application, irrespective of the outcome.

2) Prepare the documents required. You will need the following:
  • Your travel document (your passport)
  • (DE) card - your immigration card
  • Credit/debit card

3) Go online  (extend.ca.gov.sg)  and fill up the form, screen shot below:

e-Xtend

4) Wait 24 hours for the approval / rejection / appointment.

5) The next working day, visit the website again, key in your passport and DE#
  •     If approved, the system will give you a link to pay online thru credit card, fee is $30.
  •     If conditional approval, appointment letter will be given. Print out the appointment letter and follow the instructions written, complete whatever documents were asked and go to the ICA building for your appointment. It is a MUST to bring a local sponsor for every appointment with ICA. (Local sponsor could either be a Singaporean citizen or a Singaporean PR - Permanent Resident).

Here's the address of ICA:
