10 Great Reasons to Visit Potipot Island

Potipot Island, Zambales Philippines

Often called as the "Little Boracay of the north"? But nahh, Potipot has its own identity.  Let me give you just 10 reasons to visit this island.

1)  5 to 10 minutes boat ride from the mainland.  Scared of treacherous boat rides? Well fret not!

I took the above photo from the mainland. You will spend P400 for a round trip boat ride to the island.  It is roughly around 1 km from the mainland shore, napakalapit!

Entrance to the island is not free though, you have to pay P100 per head, we paid P50 each for the kids for day trip and P300 per head for overnight stay.  Just a tip, if you want to enjoy this place more, then avoid the weekends! We literally enjoyed the whole island with just 2 other groups.

2) Accommodations are available for a fee or for free.

For overnight stay they have these well maintained nipa huts "kubo" available for P1,500 a night good for 5 to 10 pax.

10) Location! It is just 5 to 7 hours from Manila, 2 to 3 hours from Olongapo and Dagupan.

How to get there:

If commuting, take the Victory liner bus going to Sta. Cruz, Zambales. Ask the conductor to drop you off at Brgy. Uacon, then take a tricycle from there to Dawal Beach Resort, you can rent a boat from there.

If via private car from Manila, take the North Expressway and SCTEX towards SBMA. Exit at Kalaklan gate then head towards Candelaria. Continue along the National Road while keeping an eye for the signs. Look for  Dawal Beach Resort then rent a boat from the resort going to Potipot.
