I'm in Love .... with Tuscany!

Have you seen the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” or “Letters to Juliet”?  How about the  “Stealing Beauty”, the “English Patient”,  “A Room with  a View” , “Eat Pray and Love” or “Twilight Saga’s New Moon”?  Well those famous movies have something in common; all of them were filmed in Tuscany!

Tuscany is a favorite backdrop for so many movies because of its beautiful scenery, artistic legacy and medieval ambiance.  It attracts millions of tourist every year; home to a lot of influential people in history of arts and science like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Galileo Galilei.  Tuscany is in central Italy and includes famous cities like its capital-Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo, San Gimignano, to name a few.  I was lucky to have visited the first 4 mentioned cities!  We toured Tuscany for 2 days before heading to Padua and Venice.

Siena- the beautiful medieval city famous for its Palio Horse Race

Florence- is the capital of Tuscany, considered the birthplace of Renaissance

Pisa- famous for its Leaning Tower, Cathedral and Baptistery

Lucca-  famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls
Nature  plus rich history  will make you fall in love with Tuscany. The busy streets of Rome intimidated me a lot and  the over populated  with tourist  and flooded Venice  disappointed me   but Tuscany made me feel at home..

I am planning to go back to Italy to explore Capri and Sorento, but if ever I will come back to the North, I will not hesitate to go back to Tuscany!Smiley
Thanks for viewing!

  1. From Jeff,

Your pictures from the Tuscany region are really good. Pisa is caught nicely and the Basilica looks great against the cirrus clouds. Very cool:)

  14. One of summer destination in Europe. Yesterday, my husband and I were talking about going there or Spain. I said we go both! Will see because when we plan a holiday it takes as many months to plan. Specially we are going by car. That's long journey from England. My husband has been there many times. He want us to experience what he had before.

  16. Tuscany is a place of architectural antiques. Yes, it is ideal for a movie setting. Lots of world-renown persons were from Tuscany, Italy. You've not mentioned about the Italians. Are they friendly? amiable? hospitable? or whatever?

  30. Wow! I just love the structures! :D No wonder it was used many times in movies. They don't even need to build a set. Europe is one of my dream vacation spots and I hope that I can really go there in the near future. ^__^ I'm a nurse so I'm also interested with the hometown of Florence Nightingale. :)
