Sands SkyPark Observation Deck Marina bay sands

Have you stayed at Marina Bay Sands  iconic 5-star hotel? If yes, then good for you! Well, I can't afford this hotel, it is way beyond my budget! For sure most of you can relate but  hey don't be disheartened, we can still enjoy the best city-skyline view of Singapore without checking in at their hotel or trying out their expensive restaurants.  How? Sands SkyPark Observation Deck.

The observation deck takes up one side of the rooftop area of Marina Bay Sands. For only $23 you can enjoy the best view of Singapore with no time limit.

From the observation deck, visitors can have an unforgettable 360-degree view of Singapore skyline with nothing but a sheet of glass and a few wires to obstruct the panorama.  A feast for the eye indeed! Great for photo opt so don't  forget your camera!

Here's a picture of the observation deck from down below:

Sands Skypark Observation Deck is located at Level 56 which is the same floor of their infinity pool. Unfortunately the pool is only for their hotel guests but it is visible from the Observation Deck so I was able to snap some photos.

From the wooden viewing deck you can climb the stairs to level 57  (highest floor) for some of Marina Bay Sands bars and restaurants.

Sunset at Morong, Bataan

"Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn"
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Time stands still whenever I watch the sun setting. There is something about the amazing change of colors that mesmerizes me and reminds me how fortunate I am to be witnessing such beauty. If something is bothering me, the beach has always been my happy place, sitting in the powdery sand and watching the natural beauty as it unfolds drives off my fears and worries away. And as I watch the day ending, no matter how bad my day may have been, I am optimistic to see the new dawn.

"Each golden sunrise ushers in new opportunities for those who retain faith in themselves, and keep their chins up... Meet the sunrise with confidence. Fill every golden minute with right thinking and worthwhile endeavor. Do this and there will be joy for you in each golden sunset."
- Alonzo Newton Benn

After experiencing a tragic event in our lives, we packed our bags, drove away from home without a destination in mind and found ourselves in Morong Bataan. We were not sorry. We had the chance to spend quality time together and Morong beach provided us the solitude we've been longing for. Watching the magical sunset gave us hope to move forward in life and helped us see things clearly.

Amazing sunset right? If you want to visit Morong please check my  earlier post for accommodations and direction.

"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides, and follow the sun."

Exploring Morong Beach, Bataan

Morong Beach, Bataan

Looking for the nearest great beach destination north of Manila? For sure you will mention 2 hours drive to Subic, well how about Morong?

Morong Beach, Bataan

Morong has been put on the tourist map by the beautiful beaches along its coastline. It is located in the western part of  Bataan Province, on the west is South China Sea, Bagac in the south, Abucay, Samal, and Orani in the east, Hermosa and Dinalupihan in the northwest and Zambales in the north.

Moron Beach, Bataan

If you are looking for an unpolluted and quiet beach  to unwind and bond with family then this is a great place for you. There are still undeveloped areas also of Morong, a portion are at the beach front are residential areas too and private vacation houses.

Morong Beach, Bataan

Please don't get me wrong, I am a resident of Olongapo for 37 years and I love my hometown, unfortunately our beaches are getting too crowded and we don't offer enough good resorts.

Moron Beach, Bataan
off-white powdery sand of Morong beach

Day tours are welcome here in Morong, the beach is open to the public. You can just bring your car, picnic basket and enjoy the beach at your own pace and time.

Moron Beach, Bataan

How to get here:

1) from Manila via public transport: take the bus going to Balanga, then from Balanga bus station they have a lot of mini buses and jeepnies going to Morong

2) from Manila via private car: Take SCTEX and exit at Dinalupihan, Bataan or  exit at Subic

3) from Subic if you have a car,  use the Morong exit (before you reach Ocean  Adventure / Camayan Beach Resort) then follow the road straight to Morong town.

4) from Subic using public transport: take the buses going straight to Morong at SBMA's second gate beside Harbor Point Mall.

Moron Beach, Bataan

Accommodations: There are a lot of great resorts in Morong and most of them are beach front. I have stayed at Pamarta Bali and White Corals (blog to follow). I have visited the other resorts too  for an ocular inspection and most of them are offering good accommodation at reasonable rates. Just to give you an idea, the price of a villa room at Pamarta Bali is P4,000 good for 4 (2 queen size beds). Their nipa hut ( good for 5) is  P3,000.

Moron Beach, Bataan

I am a beach bum and the beach has always been my happy place. I really appreciate it that my husband shares the same passion. For me, being together and simply enjoying the moment with nature  is the best experience of all and Morong offers a great venue. So is Morong for you?

Well with this sunset, how can you say No to Morong??

Sinagtala Farm Resort, Orani, Bataan

Sinagtala Farm Resort's Infinity Pool

If given a chance to escape the heat of the city with the whole family where would you go? For sure, you will answer Tagaytay or Baguio City, well, here's another option: Orani, Bataan!

For our first wedding anniversary, we decided to spend our day with the whole family. We don't want to travel too far from Subic/Olongapo so we decided to go to Orani, Bataan which is just around 45 minutes drive from home.

Sinagtala is a semi-private farm resort located up in the mountains of Orani, Bataan. The houses there are actually vacation houses of the owners but few are renting out  their units. One afternoon we decided to visit this place for an ocular inspection and we were not disappointed. We love the weather, the colorful wild flowers and beautiful private houses .

Chapel at Sinagatala Farm Resort
Once you are inside the compound the first thing you will see is their chapel. A nice one indeed! A great place for weddings!

Star Cafe at Sinagtala Farm

They also have a restaurant inside, and the great thing about the place? They offer good food at reasonable prices. All the private houses at the resort offers free use of kitchen and cooking utensils, but if you don't want to cook then no worries, this restaurant is open the whole week, anytime of the day.

Sinagtala Farm Resort

In this photo you will see 2 of the many private houses inside the compound both of these houses are also available for rent.

Here's the Beacon House we rented for the day:

The Beacon House at Sinagtala
the house has 3 bedrooms, let me share some of my photos:

The Beacon House, Sinagtala
at the ground floor is the kitchen, entertainment area, comfort room and 1 bedroom.

The Beacon House
here's the ground floor bedroom, it has two twin beds and its own huge bathroom.

The Beacon House Sinagtala
here's the second floor, it has 2 rooms. The first 2 pictures are from the family room, and the next 2 are from the room with a queen size bed.

The Beacon House, Sinagtala Farm and Resort
This is the attic connected to the family room (our room for the night). Their attic has a queen size bed and a huge veranda.

Sinagtala Farm and Resort
Here's the view standing  from the attic's veranda (left side).  You will find here the reception area of the Resort near the pool. In the upper left most area is another private house with rooms  available for rent.

Rate for the Beacon House is P7,000 per night as of this writing (good for 10), you have to pay extra for the excess. Kitchen utensils and stove are available for your convenience. Breakfast is free, but they will just give the supplies and you will be the one to cook them (the housekeeper gave us 10 fresh eggs and coffee). Check-in time is 2pm and checkout is at 12 noon.

Just to enumerate a few important things:
1) the ground floor is an open area so I prepared myself for a battle with mosquitoes, but we got the worst..  huge, bee sized flies! So be prepared and please bring something to secure your food.
2) there are a lot of local dogs in the neighborhood so we brought all our food on the second floor before we retire for the night.
3) the ref in the kitchen is too small, almost the size of a personal ref so bring an extra cooler if needed.
4) no TV in the house or sound system so plan ahead and bring something to occupy your time. (we brought our own sound system and some playing cards... tong-its time!! )

5) My husband convinced me to stay at Beacon House because of the pool table. But alas, all the cue sticks, the pool balls and even the table are in need of some TLC! The pool balls were mostly chipped off, the cue sticks are the most disappointing.. the cue tips are gone with the wind and no chalk available too. Hopefully they can fix it, it's the next best thing about the house for me (next to the attic of course).
6) When we dropped by the first time for an ocular inspection, we saw the tenants playing darts. When we arrived there, sorry but no dartboard. So just bring one if you want.

For reservation at Beacon House, you can contact the owner Ms Tonjee or  Ms April at 0907-678-1671, their fb page:  https://www.facebook.com/talabeaconhouse, their  airbnb page:  https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/869675.

Another best option for accommodation is this place (my personal choice):

Sinagtala Farm and Resort

In here they are offering rooms for rent, the cheapest room is around P2,400 as of this writing (room picture above), they also have a Family Room available. They have a safe play area for the kids, a meeting room for corporate events, a kitchen for the visitor's use and a huge viewing deck that you can also use for parties.  Breakfast is also free here and they offer the best view for me. To reserve a room or for any inquiry you can contact Monique at 09486417171 or 09215544274, just try if the numbers are still working.

Infinity Pool at SInagtala

Here's the famous infinity pool at Sinagtala overlooking Manila bay.  Please take note however that  the pool use is not free even if you are staying at one of the houses inside the resort. Fee is P200 per head.  Day trippers are also welcome.

Direction to Sinagtala:

Take SCTEX then exit at Dinalupihan, turn right going to Balanga and just follow the signage to Sinagtala .

The Beacon House, Sinagtala
Was it worth the cost? Hmmm, for me personally, the use of the pool should be free and they should offer more activities inside the farm.  If you however are looking for a quiet place with family and nature as your backdrop then this is the best place for you.  Enjoy your stay at Sinagtala!
