The Romantic city of Venice, Italy

Do you believe in fairy tales? Visit Venice and you will, this is the Mecca for the hopeless romantics like me. Venice is indeed one of the most alluring cities in the world, there’s an unexplainable magic in the air and you wouldn’t mind getting lost exploring its mysterious passageways, why? Because every corner that you’ll go, you fill find beauty, history and romance.

Venice is on the northeast coast of Italy in the Veneto region. This place was the last leg of our 7 days tour of Northern Italy originating from Rome. It is well known as the Floating City, and world famous for its canals; it has 121 islets linked by 435 bridges, famous also for its stunning architecture and artworks. Venice ranks #3 Best Destination in Italy according to Trip Advisor‘s Traveler’s Choice for 2012. The best way to explore this city? What else than by foot and of course their famous Gondola!

When Aleah of Solitary Wanderer sent me an email inviting me to participate in this blog carnival, my eyes sparkled! Well, like I said I am a hopeless romantic. Unfortunately I just had my honeymoon last month and Europe was sadly way beyond our wedding budget.  But I am still hoping to be able to bring my hubby here in the near future. Would love to have our nth honeymoon here and fall in love again... and again!

Unfortunately even during the summer, Venice is just so crowded. It would be difficult to walk straight especially at San Marco Square which is quite disappointing but it is what it is. You have to love Venice for what it can offer. This may not be the place I would love to stay for long, but it is still a must-visit in this lifetime and undeniably one of the most romantic cities in the world!

You can read more here (my previous post of Venice).

Are you brave enough to try Tamilok? (Palawan's famous delicacy)

Tamilok, Palawan's famous delicacy

Transparent white, slimy, feathery, repulsive, worm-like! Are you brave enough to try it? The good part is that they said it tastes so much like oyster, some said milk or  squid. Just the thought of eating a worm-like thingy is enough to make my stomach turn plus my hubby badgering me to try it made me decide to skip this challenge and be the damsel in distress, anyway its our honeymoon and I want him to be my hero! hehe. (excuses! excuses!)

After our Underground River Tour, our tourist guide encouraged us to try Palawan's famous delicacy, I did try their crocodile meat sisig which is not that challenging for me since they cooked it so well I can't taste the difference.. haha.  But eating a raw Tamilok is something else! Sorry but I chickened out.... I'll just try the cooked one from Kinabuch's Bar and Grill please....

Tamilok is also called a "wood worm"  or "shipworms" but it is not actually a worm. It is a mollusk found inside rotting mangroves.  According to the locals, to enjoy it best you should eat it fresh and raw as is, or by dipping it in a vinegar sauce with chili  and other spices  (kilawin, kinilaw, Tamilok Ceviche), like the picture below:

Well my hero (my hubby), tried it both, with and without the sauce and swore it tastes like oyster.  I still kissed him afterwards for being so brave.. haha..

Tamilok, Palawan's famous delicacy
does it look yummy to you? he ate it like spaghetti!
Tamilok is rich in protein and also known as an aphrodisiac. No wonder I got pregnant from our honeymoon! Oh yes I am 2 months pregnant!!

Tamilok, Palawan's famous delicacy
hubby is liking it!! a lot! ate most of it raw without the vinegar sauce

Tamilok, Palawan's famous delicacy
and he kept on asking for more! a show-off huh! I let him basked in his glory.... for the time being.

Curious how it looks like from its source? Here it is....

So, are you brave enough to try it raw?

Subic Bay and our Prenup Experience

I want to photograph my own prenup, well that was the initial plan. I have it envisioned a thousand times, I have the venue in mind, the motif and I was planning to bring all our nephews and nieces so we can all have fun. But being a "busy bride" is an understatement indeed! No matter how simple you want your wedding to be, everything will turn into chaos and you are left with what? stress! hehe..  In other words, I got too tied up and I was not able to pursue my plans! alas!

Subic's famous sunset as our perfect backdrop
My husband and I have agreed during the planning stage that we don't want to spend that much for our wedding, so I decided to just take a photographer and get the soft copies at the end of the ceremony and I will do the editing myself. I was able to negotiate to include our civil wedding, our prenup, our garden wedding , our wedding reception plus an on-site video for a minimal fee.

Let me share some of our photos for this post.

Perfect venue right? Subic Bay is about about 100 kilometers north of Manila which is just around 3 to 4 hours drive.  Subic has everything to offer for both indoor or outdoor activities. You can have a prenup in Subic's famous jungle too! The places we used in this pictorial are all for free.  Aside from Subic being a great venue for prenup pictorials, Subic also offers a lot of tourist activities from duty free shops, to jungle trekking, ocean adventure, animal petting, nature tripping and so many beach activities.

Don't worry, I had the time to do some photo shoot during our Palawan honeymoon, so wait for my version of postnuptial pictorial.. hehe..

I'm back!!... with a hubby in tow!

I'm back!! Did you miss me? I hope so!! I just got back from the most memorable travel of my life!  All my past relationship lasted: 2 yrs, 3 yrs then the last one was like 5 years.  I already accepted my fate of growing old alone after my 5 years long relationship has ended. Then I met my husband, we dated for just a week and got married after four months!  Crazy right?? I'm not yet done.. that's without a wedding proposal, no engagement ring, just me as the sole wedding coordinator for a month long wedding preparation then ta-da!!! straight to 2 weddings! Whew!

I have so much to tell you guys! From the wedding preparation to our honeymoon destination! (and of course as a traveler that's the most enjoyable part of the wedding prep!). But for now let me share this on-site video of our wedding made by Gershomp Digital Photoworks:

Venue: Moonbay Marina, The Villas and Boardwalk, SBMA

What could be more memorable than those few minutes of walking down the aisle, of  saying "I do" to the one person I finally decided to share my future with? Maybe you will say, the birth of your first born but that's next in line.. hehe.

Thank you also to our friend Maribel for this beautiful caricature for our wedding reception! For your own caricature you can contact Maribel thru her fb page: DigiARTS by M.A.N.

That's all for now.. till my next post!!  Ciao!!
